In 2007 Lachlan moved to Canada with his wife and daughter, choosing Alliston as home, based on the family's instinct Alliston was a town with a unique warm community atmosphere to it. Lachlan left the automotive industry in 2012 to become a full time Project Management consultant and trainer.

As an experienced leader, Lachlan brings his well honed organisation skills, continuous improvement background, and business acumen to the role of ABIA Chair. Lachlan believes his natural lateral thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills will prove essential over during his time as Chair, as he and his Directors focus on building on the good work of the previous Chair and board, by introducing a level of Downtown beatification, and member engagement, not yet witnessed in previous years.
Lachlan is also the President of Alliston's 'Drouthy Dozen Whisky Society', which he founded in 2015.
